ACAWT Introduces High School Students to Secondary Wood Manufacturing

On Monday April 25, 2005, the ACAWT hosted approximately 40 students from the Franklin County Schools' vocational program for a briefing on the world of secondary wood manufacturing.  Vina, Red Bay, and Belgreen High Schools were represented.  Students were welcomed by director James B. Glasgow and Franklin County Superintendent of Schools Bill Moss.

After three presentations--Employability by Kimeral Wilson, Human Resources Manager for Harden Manufacturing;   "What Manufacturers Expect from Service Suppliers" by Daniel Gillen of Leitz Tooling; and "Manufacturing and Computers" by Steve Bell, Technical Manager for Alpha Remanufacturing (Weyerhaeuser)--students were given a tour of the center's Panel Processing and Solid Lumber Labs.

The half-day briefings were coordinated by ACAWT Wood Education Specialist Richard Graben.

Kimeral Wilson, Human Resources Manager for Harden Manufacturing, presents "The Application and Interview Process" as an introduction to employability in the secondary wood manufacturing industry.
